I don't think anyone is saying people have to LOVE everything she does, but as fans, I think it's our job to support her. If we, her fans, don't
vote for her, who will?
I think support is important, because we're only spectators. She's a real person out there, living her life and doing her thing, doing what she feels is right for herself. We're all fans, we admire her, but we don't know her or what she wants or needs. Saying you don't support a music video, or a song, or whatever is silly. It's not that serious in the grand scheme of things unless it's your own life. And it is HER life. So it's important to her. Everyone wants her to get out there and win awards, and when she has a chance you say she doesn't deserve it. Pff. If you don't like the video, hey, that's your prerogative, but saying she doesn't deserve it is wrong, IMO. |

im voting for Jen... she DESERVES the award... she worked hard this year especially dancing in a video when she was pregnant, dancing (kinda sometimes) on the
Tour for a few months straight, she did so much this year while carrying twins, even tho the video sucked, it wasn't Jens fault, it was the directors
fault. Jen did her best to look sexy and give us a tiny dance routine while carrying twins ... so yea

I think Jennifer deserves an award, but not as much as some other people, in terms of the video. I'll probably vote for her anyways since the video was at
least creative and she dances in it. BTW, how many times can u vote and what do they want for 'Profile URL' when you sign up , if anybody's voted
already?

The video themselves are never the ones being nominated. Since U Been Gone got a ton of nominations a few years ago only because it was such a MASSIVE song and
Kelly Clarkson had a huge year. Ditto Crazy In Love and Umbrella. None of them are groundbreaking work, they were just masssive songs attached to massive
artists that year.
I hate 90% of the videos that get released all the time (actually I don't think I've even watched entire videos in YEARS), yet they still get nominations. IMO, almost everyone who gets nominated for a VMA is such a flash-in-the-pan or a mirror image of something else that its like, who even cares at all? I don't think the VMAs are relevant anymore and it would have been awesome to see Jen win one 3-4 years ago, but now it would be like winning a Blockbuster award...cool, but who cares? That being said, I think this debate is getting out of hand. Nobody says you have to like everything Jen does. Feel free to hate a video or a song or whatever, but don't get all moral and ethical about it. If she became a promotion whore like some of you want her to be, she'd be getting VMAs for releasing an STD awareness video. Would she "deserve" it anymore then? It just seems like some of you want it both ways. |

Yeah, you have a point there. It's just that Jennifer's video stands out, but in a weird way. Most people either stand and sing or have a video that matches the lyrics somewhat. 'I don't think the VMAs are relevant anymore and it would have been awesome to see Jen win one 3-4 years ago, but now it would be like winning a Blockbuster award...cool, but who cares?' The VMA's are becoming less and less relevant, but people still have to vote for them, so they reflect who the public (at least young people) like. And these people are the ones buying albums and artists have to appeal to. |

Actually, I think this year is the first year people have to vote to nominate videos. That means MTV doesn't care anymore to have a panel of executives
voting, lol.

crazyboyms wrote: Perfectly said, I love Jennifer so much, but she doesn't deserve this award. She and Sony gave up on the last three albums easily, and after all these years when Jennifer begins to actually acknowledge and do something for the fans directly (free concert(s), shout outs, thank yous, or even some kind of exclusivity to us), then she will continue to lose a lot of what she's built, which she's going through right now. I do want to clarify that I truly think CAUM deserved those Latin Grammies and many more awards, the album is classic. But the way she and Sony continually give up on the albums is she might as well hang up her mic and dancing shoes and not even bother. I applaud Jen for always doing what she wants to do, and no one can tell her no, but sometimes you have to give to receive. |

okay, not the extreme that ruru is talkin about... that is NOT wat i am sayin at all. you always seem to go from one extreme to the other..... and how did she
gave up on this last album... SHE WAS PREGNANT AND ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH... how could she have kept goin??? she HAD to give up on it because she had other
priorities... and she took a long break from doin anythin just so she could establish her family. i dont think no other artist has been so pregnant and kept on
wit their music tour as long as she has.... so i think the idea of her on leavin brave the way it was, was good. that was that era. this is now. on to the
next.

I don't think she gave up. She doesn't schedule her promo- Sony does. With Brave, she did the most promotion she could do because she was on tour. She
performed 2 nights in NYC and still did the morning shows, performed that morning, went on night shows and then moved to a different city for the tour.
CAUM had a great launch. She promoted here and overseas. Sony pulled the plug when it underperformed. It's not her fault. It just happens. |

and it only underperformed because they thought just because it was jennifer lopez it was goin to sell... it was a spanish ballad album. not everyone was gonna
buy that. the sales did fine if it would have been accordin to the spanish market ONLY.

I wont go over all the old arguements... but I really wish people wouldn't throw CAUM in with Rebirth & Brave.
It was a good selling Spanish Language Album. Certified by the Billboard Latin Awards. It broke a few records didn't it - Top 10 Billboard - Big Hit in Europe. QH was a really successful single & bigger than DIW. QH sold a lot & importantly had longevity I always thought CAUM would have a limited amount of time spent on it. When anyone promotes Spanish music they don't do a Rihanna or Beyonce and release like 6/7 singles off the album. It served its purpose. Yeah if your being pciky it could have done better but I was/am pretty satisfied in how things worked out. It has left the door open for a potential second Spanish language album to do even better. They type of music that album was didn't lend itself to endless singles. Its a niche album in the way 'El Cantante' was a niche movie there is a clear limit on how well it could have done. I actually think Epic- Sony/BMG where really optomistic about Brave's potential success off the back of CAUM doing well. They just made a mistake in pushing MHF aside to start Brave they clearly pushed for it to be released quicker when they knew she was pregnant. |

I think That they shouldnt Of Let Brave come out, knowing that Jen was Preggo and Couldnt Give it Enough promo to be a Hit.....
But I do thing that Epic And Sony are lacking in All the promo they do...Brave is not a bad album i like it but it never really got out there...They need to give promo to what ever she does any, lil thing like movies,albums,singles,whatever....give it as much promo they can....Jennifer as being the Artist can give suggetion in what she thinks is right and what she want to do with it, because its her carrere and project!!! |
